LSU signee Ben Simmons has a full plate with lots of things to do with high school basketball all-star engagements. Simmons, a 6-foot-8 forward, is participating in the Nike Hoops Summit on Friday in Portland, Ore. and then the Jordan Brand Classic in New York on April 17.
But there is one thing on Simmons' mind as soon as the all-star games are over -- getting to LSU in June, meeting with his new teammates and preparing for his first collegiate season.
"I just can't wait to get there," Simmons said on the "Culotta & The Prince" radio show on 104.5 FM ESPN on Tuesday morning.
Simmons said he even knows what number he plans to wear next season - his standard No. 25 that he wears at Montverde Academy, which he wore while leading the team to its third consecutive national title at the Dick's Sporting Goods High School Nationals in New York last weekend.
Simmons was named the most valuable player of the championship game.
"That's my goal, just to win ," he said.
Simmons said he thinks his game, which is already good, needs to improve before his first season at LSU, and he even hopes to play a little point guard for the Tigers in the future.
"I think I can run the point as well as any point guard," he said. "If I was to run point in a game it would be much difficult for a team to guard me."
